History

In 1993 a lifelong cyclist called Mike Adams was frustrated that the local bike shops weren’t offering the right range of bikes and products for the enthusiast rider.  With his expertise and experience together with the right mix of products he felt that he could fulfil the need for a new shop in the community, and so Red Kite Cycles was born.

With the simple principle of ‘Better Bikes - Better Service’,  the goal alway was, and always has been, to ensure that every customer gets great advice and choice, leaving the store with the right bike or accessory for their needs.  (that’s why we don’t sell bikes online - you simply can’t get that level of service from a web-site).

Since those early days, when half the stock was kept in Mike’s loft, Red Kite Cycles has continued to succeed through quality of service, knowledge and experience, and has expanded and moved premises twice to keep up with growth in business.

Red Kite Cycles and the Adams family are not just about the shop.  They have been active in several cycling clubs including the Hounslow & District Wheelers and the Solihull C.C.  Mike and wife Sarah have organised many events including  MTB XC races at Ragley Hall, the Junior National Road Race at Tanworth in Arden (won by Dan Martin - now a Pro!) and the regional road race championship, while son Euan has organised the University Cyclo Cross Championships.  Sarah is a British Cycling national commissaire, officiating at national and local races and has worked as a judge on the Tour of Britain.  She is a currently a member of the BC Regional Board.

I’m an old friend of Mike Adams and would like to get in touch again if he’s interested.
