Race Bike Set Up
March 11th, 2010 - Posted by Paul BIt’s that time of year, the roads are drying up, my first race is scheduled for the 20th of March and I had to undertake the task of cleaning, checking and preparing my race bike for this season. New bar tape is a must, as was fitting my new Gore ride-on full cable set. A new, less faff design than the previous version, the gear cables are completely sealed from shifter to derailleur. Fairly simple to fit, but I did have one of the mechanics, Dave Simpson, doing it for me so I can’t complain. As per usual he did a sterling job in about a tenth of the time it would have taken me to finish reading the manuals (manuals? for cables? really?). A new simple-as-can-be wireless Cateye computer (in white) is on as is mynew super-aero U.S.E seatpost. All I need now is a shiny white saddle to finish off the pro look. I’m thinking one of the new Specialized Romin SL’s, but am going to try out a demo Fizik saddle first (available at the shop of course) at the Solihull CC Harry Reynolds sportive this Sunday. Come and ride with us, look out for the bright orange saddle and give us a wave. Compliments, of course, are mandatory. See you there!
